There’s a piece of advice floating around online right now that sounds smart, time-saving, and even a little bit genius.
“Just create one piece of content and resize it across every platform.”
Simple, right?
Except… if you’ve ever actually tried it, you already know the truth. It doesn’t work.
Because what performs well on Instagram isn’t going to perform well on YouTube. What works on LinkedIn won’t land the same way on Pinterest. And when you try to force one design to fit everywhere, your content starts to fall flat.
So instead of saving time… you end up frustrated, overwhelmed, and questioning whether your content is even working at all.
I’m going to share the fix for that.

On paper, resizing feels like the ultimate shortcut.
You’ve already created the content… so why not stretch it, crop it, and post it everywhere?
But here’s what that advice ignores. Every platform has completely different behaviour patterns.
On Instagram, people are scrolling quickly and looking for something visually engaging that pulls them in.
On YouTube, your thumbnail needs to spark curiosity in seconds.
On LinkedIn, your audience is reading more intentionally and looking for insight or perspective.
On Pinterest, your content needs to feel searchable and evergreen.
And when you ignore these behaviour patterns? Your content doesn’t perform. That’s why resizing your content doesn’t convert.
When this “just resize it” advice doesn’t work, most business owners fall into one of three patterns.
1. You force the same design everywhere
You post the same graphic across multiple platforms, hoping it will land.
But instead… engagement drops, reach slows down, and your content feels like it’s going nowhere.
2. You redesign everything from scratch
You try to tailor every single post manually… rewriting, redesigning, rethinking everything.
And suddenly content creation is taking hours.
3. You stop repurposing altogether
At some point, it all just feels like too much, so you don’t repurpose at all.
And all that effort you put into creating content?
It gets seen once… and then disappears.

A lot of people assume repurposing is a writing problem…and that the hard part is turning one idea into multiple captions, posts, or formats.
But in reality, it’s the design side that slows everything down. Because every time you sit down to create a post, you’re making new decisions.
What layout should I use?
What font feels right?
Where should this text go?
Does this still look on brand?
Those micro decisions stack up fast. And if you have a team… it gets even messier. They’re guessing. You’re reviewing. Things go back and forth. Nothing feels streamlined.
A lack of design structure is what creates overwhelm, not the repurposing process itself.
Repurposing is not about copying and pasting your content into different sizes. It’s about adapting your message for each platform while keeping your brand consistent.
For example…
If you record a podcast and share three key points, you could:
You have one core message executed differently. And that’s what makes it work, if you have a system in place.
I have a Hero Design System, which is built on:
So instead of starting from scratch, my team is working within a framework. All they have to do with each podcast or Youtube video I create is this:
They swap out the text.
They update the imagery.
They follow the structure.
And create content that looks polished, consistent, and high-quality without taking hours!
When you have a clear system in place, your team knows exactly what to do.

One of the biggest fears I hear is this…
“Won’t my content feel repetitive?”
And I get it. When you’re the one creating it, it can feel like you’re saying the same thing over and over.
But your audience are not seeing everything you post. And even if they are… consistency builds recognition.
It doesn’t feel boring, it feels reliable. When your visuals feel cohesive and your messaging is clear, people start to trust your brand faster.
Right now, showing up consistently online isn’t optional.
You either invest heavily in ads, or you maximise your organic content. And if you’re already creating content, the smartest thing you can do is get more mileage out of it.
Not by doing more…but by doing it better.
One strong piece of content, multiplied strategically, can carry your entire week.
And when you pair that with the right design system? You get content that doesn’t just fill space…it builds trust, visibility, and momentum for your business.
