If you’re thinking about rebranding your business right now, I want you to pause for a second. Not because you shouldn’t do it. But because most people are starting in the completely wrong place.
And that’s exactly why so many rebrands don’t work.
Not because the colours were wrong.
Not because the logo wasn’t “good enough”.
But because the strategy underneath it all… wasn’t there.

Most people don’t wake up one day and randomly decide to rebrand.
There’s usually something deeper going on.
Maybe your business has grown… but your brand hasn’t caught up. Or your visuals feel messy or inconsistent. Or you’re attracting clients that just aren’t quite right anymore.
Or maybe… your brand just doesn’t feel like you.
But a rebrand isn’t really about aesthetics. It’s a sign that your business has evolved… and your brand needs to realign with it.

Let’s call it out.
Most people start with Canva. They open a blank page, start playing with colours, testing fonts, maybe scrolling Pinterest for inspiration…
And while that feels productive, it’s actually the exact thing that’s keeping you stuck.
Because colours, fonts, logos, templates…they are not strategy. They are the result of having a strategy. So when you start there, you’re essentially guessing.
And guessing leads to a brand that might look nice…but doesn’t attract, convert, or last.
Here’s what to do instead:
Before anything else, you need to zoom out.
Ask yourself:
Because “I’m bored of my brand” isn’t a strategy.
But this is:
Your brand should support where you’re going… not where you started.
So think beyond now.
Where do you want your business to be in 12 months… or even 3 to 5 years?
If you can’t clearly answer these questions… your brand won’t either:
And I mean clearly. Nothing vague. When someone lands on your page, they need to instantly think, “Yep… this is for me.”
Because your brand should act as a filter to attract the right people… and gently repel the wrong ones.
That’s not a bad thing.
That’s actually what makes a brand powerful.
Now we move into the feeling side of your brand.
Ask yourself…
Choose 3 to 5 words.
For example:
Because if your visuals don’t match that feeling… people will feel the disconnect. And when there’s a disconnect, they won’t trust it.
This is where you can finally start looking at visuals… but with intention.
Instead of designing from scratch, you’re curating.
You’re gathering:
Platforms like Pinterest are perfect for this.
Search using your strategy, not random ideas:
“Minimal brand colour palette”
“Bold feminine branding”
“Premium service brand design”
This way you create direction for the visuals. You’re not guessing anymore.
Now… you open Canva. And this time, everything feels easier.
Because you’re not staring at a blank page thinking,
“What should I choose?”
You already know.
This is where you create:
And instead of just looking “nice”, everything works together, feels aligned, and supports your message.

You upgrade your visuals… but your backend stays messy.
Your systems, your processes, your finances… all still feel chaotic.
And that creates a ceiling.
Because you can’t build a premium brand on top of disorganisation.
This is where tools like Xero come in.
Having everything in one place, your invoices, your expenses, your bookkeeping…
It removes so much friction behind the scenes. And that matters more than you think.
Because a strong brand isn’t just what people see…it’s how your business runs.
Rebranding doesn’t need to feel overwhelming, but it does need to be intentional.
A good rebrand should:
Not just look pretty for a few weeks. So if you’re about to rebrand, start with the strategy. And upgrade your backend systems to reflect that.
