Creating and curating a solid set of social media templates for your brand can be SUCH a timesaver and means you might actually post rather than face that all too common social media overwhelm.
But it’s not always as easy as “let’s make some social templates!”. There are some things to consider first and in this episode I’ll step you through my steps to crafting useable and strategic templates for your business you’ll actually want to use AND that help to grow your business, not waste your time.
Step 1: Know Your Content Needs
Effective social media templates begin with the foundation of understanding the content you need. Reflect on your business’s brand and messaging. What do you want to share, and what does your audience need to see? Consider the season of your business and the type of content that aligns with your growth objectives. By being strategic and intentional, you can create templates that resonate with your audience and serve your business goals.
Step 2: Define Your Brand Style
Your branding is the essence of your business identity. Ensure that your social media templates reflect your brand’s visual elements, such as colours, fonts, and design style. Consistency is key, as it fosters recognition and loyalty among your audience. By maintaining a cohesive brand identity across your social media templates, you reinforce your business’s visual identity and build a strong brand presence.
Step 3: Research Audience Preferences
Understanding your audience’s preferences is crucial for creating engaging and relevant content. Dive into your social media insights to identify which posts perform well. What type of content garners the most likes, saves, shares, and comments? By gauging your audience’s preferences, you can tailor your social media templates to better resonate with and captivate your followers.
Step 4: Utilise Templates Effectively
Rather than starting from scratch, leverage readily available design resources. Platforms like Canva offer a plethora of customisable templates suited for various social media posts. Select templates that align with your brand and the content you wish to share. Then tailor these templates to incorporate your branding elements, colours, fonts, and imagery. This will help you quickly create professional and on-brand social media posts, saving time and effort in the process.
Step 5: Create Variations
While consistency is valuable, you don’t want all your posts to look identical. Keep your same overall brand but explore different ways to lay out your text, different text amounts, large and small imagery, etc. This means your grid won’t be a stagnant boring grid that feels like nothing new is being offer, and instead a vibrant place that excites those who stumble into your world to hit that follow button.
By following these practical steps, you can establish a super strong foundation for creating and utilising social media in a way that resonate with your audience, reinforces your brand’s identity AND doesn’t take you hours to create each time! Templates are such a valuable tool for streamlining your content creation process, allowing you to focus more on doing the things in your business that you love.
