Looking for ways to make your business more easeful and balanced? To honour rather than fight the season you are in? Join me, Jacqui Naunton, as I chat to special guest, Laura Canham, about the challenges of work-life balance and the journey of building an intentional and fulfilling business.
Listen or watch above or read some of they key learning below.
Laura emphasised the importance of creating systems and having support in place to ensure that your business can run smoothly without having to be directly involved in every aspect.
Start by evaluating your daily tasks and identifying areas where you could implement systems or hand off responsibilities to team members or freelancers. This may include automating certain processes, using project management tools, or hiring virtual assistants to handle administrative tasks.
(PS. I have a video/podcast/blog sharing my top tools here).
Take a moment to envision your ideal work-life balance. What does *really* it look like? How many hours do you want to dedicate to your business each day? What activities bring you joy and rejuvenate your energy?
By getting clear on your personal life goals, you can then adjust your business to support those goals. This might involve setting boundaries around work hours, scheduling regular self-care activities, and creating a supportive environment that nurtures both your business and personal life.
Aim to craft something that suits your season rather than what you feel the world pushing you into.
Reflect on aspects of your business that feel forced or draining. These are your “sticky icky” points.
It’s crucial to identify these areas and find ways to make them easeful. Whether it’s adjusting your service offerings, streamlining your processes, or rethinking client interactions, the key is to address these challenges proactively.
Laura and Jacqui emphasised the freedom to change business strategies and activities as needed, so give yourself permission to evolve and adapt your business model. It’s OK to STOP things that aren’t working in this season.
As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to fall into the trap of working long hours and neglecting personal time. Laura stressed the need for flexibility in work hours and the importance of prioritising self-care despite societal pressures.
Allocate time for activities that rejuvenate you, whether it’s spending time with loved ones, engaging in hobbies, or simply taking moments of quiet reflection. Remember, sustainable business success, and the best way to avoid burnout, is rooted in your well-being and fulfillment.
Laura highlighted the significance of making small, regular tweaks in mindset and business practices. Start by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and data to assess the impact of changes. This evidence-based approach can build confidence for making larger changes in the future.
By prioritszing personal happiness and fulfillment over solely focusing on financial success, you can create a business that aligns with your values and brings long-term satisfaction.
Building an easeful business as an entrepreneur involves intentional effort, adaptability, and a commitment to prioritising personal happiness and fulfillment. Learn to embrace systems, foster work-life balance, make proactive changes, prioritise self-care, and embrace incremental shifts, so you can cultivate a sustainable and fulfilling entrepreneurial journey. Remember, your business should support and enhance your life, not consume it. Here’s to creating an easeful and thriving business on your terms.
