There’s usually 3 camps you might sit in when you hear the word public speaker:
-
That’s not relevant to me, I’m not a public speaker
-
AGGHH public speaker. YUCK. Never ever.
-
Yes! Tell me more how I can improve my craft.
This podcast is for ALL 3 types of people… and especially those of you who fear public speaking or don’t think it’s for you.
In this interview with Kate Cashman we uncover why ALL voices need to be heard… even if yours is quiet and doesn’t sound “confident”.
Because 90% of good speaking happens before you open your mouth – it’s all connected to your mindset! What do you believe about yourself and what you have to share.
We need your voice, we don’t need your confidence.
Tips from Kate:
Start by working out what’s really going on in your mind – write down all the things you think about yourself? Write down what you think will happen if you public speak. Brainstorm your fears.
Aim for courage NOT confidence. Start small and flex your courage muscle by putting yourself in small situations you can practice in – give yourself evidence that you can do hard things.
Think about your audience and understand what they ACTUALLY want. Because a lot of nervousness comes from the unknown.
Don’t make your nerves mean anything. Good speakers still get nervous – you’re still meant to be there.
Remember you don’t have to be the ultimate pro in your field – think of yourself as a contributor instead.
