Ever looked at your Instagram feed, your website, or even your Canva designs and thought… “Ugh. Something’s not right.”
It’s not that your colours are hideous.
It’s not that your logo is bad.
It’s not even that you’ve used the wrong font.
It’s more like this vague feeling that things aren’t quite fitting together.
You know what you want your brand to feel like, but what you’re creating just… isn’t it.
If that’s you, friend, you’re not broken. Your creativity isn’t gone. You’re not doomed to have an “okay” brand forever.
You just need to figure out why your branding feels off and how to bring it back into alignment.
Today, let’s break it down.
Your brand has a personality, whether you’ve thought about it or not. It’s the vibe people pick up when they interact with you.
If you’re a high-energy, fun, slightly cheeky business… but your designs are all muted blues and corporate fonts, you’re creating a disconnect.
On the flip side, if you’re a calm, minimalist coach but your graphics are neon pink and full of glitter fonts… people are going to feel confused.
Quick Fix:
Think about 3–5 words you’d use to describe your business personality. Then ask:
We’ve all been there…you see a trending Canva template, you fall in love with someone else’s palette, you switch fonts because “this one’s cuter.”
But every time you do that, you chip away at your visual consistency.
Your audience stops recognising you because you’ve given them something different to look at every week.
Quick Fix:
Commit to ONE set of brand colours, fonts, and styles for at least 6 months.
Put them in a “Brand Kit” in Canva so you’re not tempted to stray.
Design isn’t just about looking pretty. It’s about communicating.
If you don’t have a clear idea of WHO you’re speaking to, what you want them to feel, and what you want them to do next… your designs will end up aimless.
Quick Fix:
Before you design anything, ask:
When we’re in a hurry, we cut corners. That’s when brand elements get swapped out, spacing gets sloppy, and colours start drifting.
It’s like baking, you can rush it, but you’re probably going to end up with something flat.
Quick Fix:
Block out intentional time for design. Give yourself breathing room to check for consistency before you hit publish.
Sometimes, your brand feels off simply because you’ve evolved.
Your offers have changed, your audience has shifted, and you’re stepping into a new level …but your old branding is still stuck in 2021.
Quick Fix:
Do a visual audit. Ask yourself: Does this brand still feel like the version of me I’m stepping into? If not, it’s time for a strategic refresh, not random tweaks.
If your branding feels off, it’s not a sign you’re bad at design…it’s a sign you’re ready to realign.
Start with clarity around your brand personality, commit to consistency, and check in regularly to make sure your visuals match where you are in business right now.
